Terms of use

1. The service

Protocol Explorer is an educational website that animates how internet protocols exchange messages. Every scenario is a teaching simulation written from public specifications. It is not a packet analyser, does not observe your traffic and must not be used as a substitute for measurement when diagnosing a production incident.

2. Accounts

You may use the free lessons without an account. Creating an account requires an email address verified by one-time code or a Google sign-in. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to that email address.

3. Protocol Explorer Pro

Protocol Explorer Pro is a one-time purchase of $4.99 (USD) that unlocks all 33 protocol lessons, every step and the full packet inspector for the purchasing account. It is a personal, non-transferable licence. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

The licence is tied to the email address used at checkout. Signing in with the same email on another device restores it. Sharing an account to avoid payment is not permitted and may end the licence.

4. Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store card details. If the site does not work for you, write to us within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the payment without argument. Refunds are returned to the original payment method.

5. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the service, scrape the lesson library for redistribution, resell access, or republish the scenarios as your own product. Reading the pages with a browser, quoting short excerpts with attribution, and using the material to teach are all fine.

6. Availability and changes

The library grows over time; protocols may be added, corrected or reordered. We aim to keep purchased access working but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. If the service is discontinued, we will refund recent purchases on request.

7. Liability

The content is provided as-is for study. To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for decisions made on the basis of the simplified scenarios, including changes made to production systems.
